HP & BuzzCorps HDX Dragon Giveaway Contest Rules II

"There are 8 million stories in the naked city….." goes the start of the song, 8 Million Stories by Kurtis Blow.

I want to get 8 million stories as well

I have been going through the emails sent in for participating in this contest.

Thank you all for your responses.

However, all is not well.

In order to be considered, you will need to follow the rules which I shall lay out again below.

  • Tell me how this elegant desktop-replacement system will enhance your entertainment options.
  • Inform the world how this fantastic and totally decked-out system will bring up your productivity, and mobile gaming.
  • Finally, reveal to all how HP and this game-changing device will make your world better!
  • While I like a well-written treatise as much as the other guy, please don't write me a dissertation. However, do not write me a haiku either. If it takes you longer to get it all in, that is okay, assuming you follow the next rule.
  • Be concise, be creative, be funny, can the sob stories, more than anything else, be funny!
  • Please include your name, country of residence, locality in that country, age, and occupation.

Failure to adhere to these rules qill reqult in an automatic disqualification of your entry.

This laptop is the baddest system out there. In fact, I can declare without fear of contradiction that it is the most powerful laptop system around, as befits its roots as an offspring of the original Compaq Portable.

Resultantly, this is not the system for anyone who wants an entry-level system. If your need is for that, this contest if not for you.

If, however, you need the Rolls-Royce of notebook computers, send me an email, following those simple rules above precisely.

Apologizing in advance, I do not want to read sob stories. I am not interested in them for this contest.

Tell me how you want to save the universe, frag the Cro-Mags, have a new-age mobile boombox, make Macbook users wilt away in envy when you watch Blu-Ray movies. Be productive using the included productivity applications. Utilize the resources of HP to scan, print, fax, make photo prints, movies, etc., on this beauty.

If I sound somewhat miffed, I am!

I have to give it to one of you!

All the time knowing that I would love to keep my grubby mitts on it!

So, stick to the plan.

Entertain me.

If you have sent in a story that does not meet those guidelines, I am handing you a mulligan: please revise your story and resend it to me with (Revised) added to the email's subject line. That way, it would not be automagically disqualified as a duplicate entry.

Finally, visit the HDX Giveaway forum at AbsoluteVista.com and participate in the discussion. Feel free to assume that continued participation will result in elevating your story's status.

Send all emails to:

31DaysOfTheDragon@AbsoluteVista.com

Also visit the 31 Days of The Dragon website to see the other thirty (30) chances you have to win similarly-equipped HDX Dragons.

I hope you tolerate my double email, I forgot to add my age and occupation. That wasn't on the first issue of the rules.

What do you mean by locality in that country? Do you mean the city we live in?

I think I'll stick with my original composition since I believe that it met with your original criteria (although my decision to exercise a degree of literary license in creating a "story" that requires a bit of reading between the lines with regard to how the 'Rolls' would change my life, does leave me a bit worried that I might have been too concise/vague now).

Anyhoo, thanks for the do-over chance, but I think I'll pass on the Mulligan.

I do have one small suggestion though. I realize that reading/judging 8M Naked City stories is a time consuming endeavor, but a quick email response to let contestants know that you at least received their entries would be reassuring to those that might wonder what happened to them when they hit the "send" button.

Good luck everyone, I can't wait to read the winner's story.

AbsoluteVista,

Please, please, PLEASE tell us if there is an age limit or not. I tried to ask this question on the forum post, but my message didn't seem to go up. I know I'm only 16, but I could really use this thing. Please let me know if I have a chance or not.

Tim

Unprobed since 2003!

Hi John!

Is it mandatory to write the complete article/story in a point-wise scheme specifying the relevance of this laptop for the points you've mentioned?

Or can we write it in a paragraph form putting up all necessary points in no particular order/sequence as you've mentioned them to be?

I've sent my entry and have tried to include all the points you've mentioned. But it is not in a point-wise scheme. Will that do? Or I need to update?

I'll be happy to see a reply from you!

Cheers

@ALL Contestants: Moving your comments to the forum will ensure greater and faster interactivity. If the first few sentences do not move me.....

@Bob: Locality: city, village, township, whatever the locals call your 'hood.

@Tim: For this contest, age is just a number. However, We will need to send it to and adult for tax and auditing purposes.

@Praval: Any order is OK, as long as you cover all. Be as creative as you require. Free form, book form, I'm not particular.

@DavidEstep: you need to register to post in the forums

Oh how I wish I'd added this to my entry...

"Great to see a world-class greyhound going to a good home.  HDX me!  I've got just the kennel for it.  Think Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker pampered their pups with those air conditioned dog houses?  They've got nothing on me!"

That's what I get for writing my letter after midnight...

May the best computer-user win!  Good luck to all, but I hope it's me!
