AbsoluteVista.com’s Contest Rules

Rules:

Simple: I need a story.

Tell me how this elegant desktop-replacement system will enhance your entertainment options.

Inform the world how this fantastic and totally decked-out system will bring up your productivity, and mobile gaming.

Finally, reveal to all how HP and this game-changing device will make your world better!

While I like a well-written treatise as much as the other guy, please don't write me a dissertation.

Be concise, be creative, be funny, can the sob stories, be funny!

Above all, keep to the easy guidelines above, and we'll see.

It is free to enter.

It is free to win.

Process

The contest will be open from 12.00 am (Pacific Daylight Time) May 2, 2008 until midnight (PDT) May 8, 2008.

All entries are welcome.

The contest is open to all sapient human inhabitants of Sol-3**, and is totally free to enter. You live on Earth? Send me an email, leave me your comments, watch the site for follow-on questions, if any and you may get to win one of these beauties.

Easy as that!

Just send an email with your story, name, country and locality of residence only – I do not need your address unless you are selected, age, occupation or hobby*** to 31DaysOfTheDragon@AbsoluteVista.com.

Be creative!

You can enter just once, or get creative. I know you all know what I mean.

Selection

I will announce the winning entry at 9.00 AM Pacific Daylight Time on May 9, 2008.

My selection is final.

I will publish the winning story, and the next several shortlisted stories on AbsoluteVista.com.

The winner will also need to be available for interviews by AbsoluteVista.com, SmallBizVista.com, any of the other sites in the drawing, and the sponsors of this giveaway. As a result, I will require a phone number from the winner as well.

If you do not win here, please go on to Ars Technica for the next drawing (if you meet their contest criteria), or any of the remaining 31 Days of The Dragon websites and try your luck there.

You never know.

Shipping

Since I will be reviewing the system before sending it to the winner, I will try to be brief, and sent the unit to the winner within 48 hours of May 9, 2008.

BuzzCorps has graciously consented to pay all shipping and duties associated with this prize for the winner.

Mad props to HP and BuzzCorps for allowing us to participate in this event

The email address to send your story is:

31DaysOfTheDragon@AbsoluteVista.com

*Since I like to talk about small & medium businesses, any comment that fits those parameters will get an added point.

** My siblings, family, and close friends are definitely not allowed to participate. So, no emails from all of you, family! That includes in-laws as well!

***Demographic information I require.

I am so happy the task wasn't to create something graphical!  If that was the case I'd be KO'd in the first round, lol.

That being said it's a nice piece of machine, there's no doubt about it.  Good luck to those that enter!

How long is "concise?"  Is it 140 characters like Route66 said?  Because that's concise for sure!

I'm delightfully surprised that this one is open for all. This isn't exactly a putting "America back on the map" moment, but its close! BTW, great first giveaway idea.

Entry submitted, but I'll totally fail the concise requirement if it is indeed 160 characters or less as Route66 suggested.

Thanks for the chance though.

I love how HP's website is so organized. I browsed around for quite a few minutes and I didn't know they offered free online classes. Very neat.

Just sent my story, a little nervous, but fingers are crossed. Hopefully I stand a chance, my biggest problem will be the length... I never had a problem in school getting to the page requirements, it was not going over the maximum number of pages.

Good luck to everyone!

@ALL: Please post in the forum for faster feedback and greater interactivity

@Kttr: Sadly, English, it must be. Most of my readers are not conversant in Denobulan ot Andorian. :)

@Danni: Your parent or guardian must be of legal age though, to collect for you.

@Marlon: While I don't have a firm word count on 'concise', if it makes my eyes droop after the first few lines, its too long.

@DrWho: Even in Ouagadougou, we (BuzzCorps, not me - LOL) will pay shipping, customs, and taxes. How cool and nice of them is that?

@Hidden Hunter: Dude!!!

@Route66: Thanks for putting a hard number. That number is not firm if your story is entertaining, though.
